Content: A certificate in understanding Cybertrauma for professionals.

This course will run over 10 months online starting February 2026. You can enrol after the course begins and catch up using recorded sessions from earlier modules.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the psychological mechanisms of cyber trauma and its impact on child and adolescent development

• Identify different forms of online harm and assess risk using evidence-based safeguarding frameworks

• Implement trauma-informed responses to cyber trauma in professional practice

• Prevent further harm through proactive digital safeguarding strategies

• Support children and young people affected by cyber trauma using appropriate referral and intervention pathways

• Apply attachment-informed and developmental perspectives to online behaviour

• Respond ethically and confidently to disclosures relating to online abuse and exploitation

• Work effectively with parents and carers as part of professional safeguarding practice

• Recognise vicarious trauma and implement protective strategies for sustainable professional work

• Integrate current and emerging digital and AI-related risks into safeguarding decision-making

• Child sexual abuse material, pornography, gender considerations
• Self harm and suicide online
• Health, fitness, and body culture
• Stalking, harassment, and doxing
• War, gore, violence, and desensitisation
• Vicarious trauma, moderators and professionals, plus current AI issues
• Practical safeguarding skills that prevent further harm
• Working effectively with parents and carers

Course structure

• 10 live modules delivered over 10 months

• Monthly 1.5-hour live sessions on Zoom (1 hour training, 30 minutes Q&A and discussion)

• Thursdays 7.30PM - 9PM (UK time)
• Training sessions are recorded for you to catch up if you miss any (the live discussions are not recorded)

• Interactive teaching with clinical and safeguarding context

• Course materials and session recordings included

• Clear guidance on assignments required for certification.

Start date: February 2026 (you can start later if need be)
Full session dates provided upon enrolment.

Participants who complete the course requirements will receive a Cybertrauma Certificate, recognising their professional development and applied understanding of cyber trauma.
